WhatsApp is expanding its calling capabilities, making the service more convenient for people who switch between multiple devices throughout the day. One of the biggest additions is the ability to make and receive voice and video calls directly from a web browser.
With this update, users no longer need to install a separate desktop app. WhatsApp Web now supports group calls, screen sharing, reactions, and access to call history, bringing the browser experience much closer to the mobile and desktop versions.
Another new feature allows users to move an active group call between a smartphone, desktop, and browser without interrupting the conversation. WhatsApp has also introduced a waiting room option, giving call hosts greater control over when participants are allowed to join.
WhatsApp is rolling out these calling updates in stages, so all users should see them over the next weeks.
