The field of artificial intelligence continues to expand, introducing more and more applications that provide users with never-before-seen levels of interactivity and personalization. One of the most striking among them is Character.ai. Its distinctive feature is the ability to individually create AI characters.

According to information from the analytics company SimilarWeb, Character.ai is gradually gaining momentum among the American audience, already numbering 4.2 million active users. This figure is impressive, especially considering that it launched in May of this year and that its older competitor, ChatGPT, has about 6 million users. However, ChatGPT still holds the top spot with 22.5 million users on mobile devices, while Character.ai has 5.27 million.

Analysis of the demographics of the user audience shows an interesting trend. It turns out that Character.ai attracts a noticeably younger audience, unlike ChatGPT and other similar platforms. This may indicate that its creators managed to offer young people that very “product of tomorrow” that can satisfy their needs for novelty and creativity. Among all Character.ai users, 60% are in the 18- to 24-year-old category, which is twice as many as its competitor, ChatGPT, which has only 27% of users in this category.

The prospects for Character.ai are very promising. In March of this year, its development team, led by former Google employees Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas, attracted an impressive investment of $150 million. The startup itself was valued at $1 billion. This certainly speaks to the solid potential and faith of investors in the successful future of the application.

Should we expect Character.ai to become the new must-have for young people? Time will show. However, it can already be argued that the application has everything necessary to become not just another trend, but also a reliable communication tool suitable for a wide range of users.
